It’s nice to have lots of little pieces of nature on the balcony, patio or in the dull and dead corners of our home. However, caring for plants is not as easy as many believe, especially if you were not born with the gift of a green thumb.

Certainly, orchids are among the most difficult plants to care for . Beautiful, with gorgeous colors and flowers, they are among the most sought after green jewels that are bought and given as gifts, but unfortunately they are also among the plants that die more easily or that don’t seek out flowers when they should.

If these last two conditions apply, it means you are doing something wrong. Have you ever noticed that your orchids are rotting or having difficulty flowering? Read on as we reveal the trick to reviving your beautiful plants in a nanosecond.

The technique for blooming and healthy orchids
Caring for orchids is not as easy as it seems. These plants grow differently than others, for example, their roots tend to rot quickly if they are not cared for properly.

Is that exactly what’s happening to your plants? Don’t worry, we have a system for you that will give you beautiful and healthy orchids all year round. First of all, you need a 5-liter plastic bottle from which you remove the cap and make a fairly large square opening (remember that our plant has to fit inside).

At the bottom of the bottle you will need to drill drainage holes with a small knife. Instead, you can pierce the bottle cap and insert a wire or a hanger, with which you will eventually have to place your orchid where you want, even hanging on the balcony.

At this point, we take our orchid out of the pot and start removing the old plant material and cutting off the damaged roots. In the meantime, prepare this compound that will serve as a natural fertilizer for our orchid.

Pour 500 ml of water into a container and add two cloves of garlic previously crushed in a mortar. Mix everything together. Filter the water, which has now absorbed the antiseptic properties of the garlic, and start cleaning the leaves of our orchid with a cotton pad dipped in this solution.

Why are we doing this step? To ensure that our plant is effectively protected from fungi : the smell of garlic and its properties can act as a fungicide.

At this point, we place the roots of our orchid in the water and garlic and leave them to soak for 15 minutes. In the meantime, get some pine bark that you can buy in nurseries.

Let’s move on to the last step. Take your previously cut up clear plastic bottle again and insert a sponge cut into small pieces, the classic green or white ones that you can also find at florists.

Then add the pine bark and finally your orchid that you have soaked in water and garlic. Cover the roots again with pine bark. Then water the soil with the same water and garlic solution that you soaked your plant in.

This process must be repeated every two weeks . You will see that your orchid will flower all year round and have healthy and robust roots.
