Put a ball of aluminum foil on your plants: you will get rid of 6 problems forever

In every kitchen we find aluminum foil in the pantry. This product is indispensable and is often used to store different types of food. Its thin and flexible films can cover all kinds of products, such as meal packaging.

It turns out that film has other functions as well.

There are a few tips for using it in the garden. Find out which ones!

Aluminum foil and gardening: everything you need to know

Heat insulator

One of the main functions of aluminum foil in the garden is to use it as thermal insulation for plant growth. You will need two or three balls.

To set this up, simply unfold a sheet of aluminum foil on the ground under the seeds and soil: it not only insulates them from the rest of the soil, but also has the function of providing heat through light refraction.

Protecting plants

Wrapping or covering the trunks and stems of plants and trees with aluminum foil offers several advantages. These include keeping snails and slugs away from plants. To do this, the substrate must be covered with paper and a few stones placed on top so that the wind does not carry it away.

In the case of fruit trees, the trunk can be covered to protect it from rodents that eat the crop and young shoots.

Cut two sheets of aluminum foil so that you can wrap the trunk and then cover it. All that remains is to secure it with ropes.

Likewise, aluminum foil can be used to protect trees from herbivorous mammals such as goats and others. Paper should be placed around the trunk at a sufficient height to deter these animals from approaching.

Growing seedlings

One of the most interesting uses of aluminum foil in the garden is to reflect sunlight and encourage plant seedlings to grow efficiently.

The reflected rays provide warmth, creating a comfortable temperature for the seeds.

Find a cardboard box or carton and wrap the inside with foil so that the paper extends 5 cm over the edge.

Secure with adhesive tape so that the sheet does not move. Make holes in the bottom of the box to drain excess water.

Keep birds and other animals away

Birds are naturally afraid of bright and noisy things. So if you want to protect your fruit and plants, simply tie long narrow strips of foil around them.

Keep deer away

With their long legs and slender mouths, they can easily reach young trees. Wrap a wide strip of aluminum foil around a tree trunk at least 50 cm high to deter them.

Now you know all the other uses for aluminum foil that can be useful in your garden.
